Brendan Hajar Bio

I obtained my Neuroscience MSci from the University of Manchester in 2022. My master’s project, supervised by Dr John Gigg, investigated memory encoding deficits in the 3xTgAD mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease, using a continuous novel object recognition paradigm. Upon graduating, I further pursued my interest in Alzheimer’s research by working as a research technician in Professor Frances Edwards lab at UCL. Here, I greatly developed my rodent handling skills alongside performing various behavioural tests, immunohistochemistry assays and recording local field potentials in hippocampal slices acquired from aged mice.

I am now working as a research technician in the Harris lab where I intend to develop my existing foundations in behavioural research, electrophysiology and imaging whilst also pursuing my interests in sleep and memory.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and I am quite passionate about creative expression. I like writing stories and making music whenever I have the time and/or motivation to do so.
